What is Cataract Surgery ?
Cataract surgery is a procedure that replaces the clouded natural lens of the eye with a clear artificial lens (intraocular lens or IOL) to restore vision. It’s a common and generally safe procedure, often performed within 20 minutes. Post surgey you can go back home immediately.

What Happens During Cataract Surgery ?
The eye is numbed with eye drops, and you may be given a sedative to relax yourself. The surgeon makes a small incision in the eye and uses an ultrasonic probe to break up the cloudy lens into multiple small pieces and suction out the fragments. A clear artificial lens (IOL) is placed in the same location as the natural lens. The small incision typically heals on its own without stitches.
